What Is Direct Pay Dermatology?

Direct pay dermatology is a return to the traditional medical care model that puts the doctor-patient relationship first by eliminating insurance networks. This puts patients back in charge of their medical care. Patients pay for dermatology services directly, rather than through a third-party payer such as an insurance company.

Dr. Cohen does not participate with any payers. A credit card must be on file and a non-refundable deposit is required. All services must be paid in full at the time of service. Prices for all services are available and the patient can opt out of any treatment.

Is Direct Pay Dermatology Affordable?

Our fee schedule enables each patient to decide what treatment fits into their goals and budget. Pathology and lab work are not performed in-house — we have arranged a special direct pay rate with our pathology lab for any necessary labs or pathology ordered during your visit.

Will My Insurance Company Reimburse Me?

Many insurance plans will reimburse for out-of-network providers. Some considerations:

• We are considered an “out-of-network” provider for PPOs
• Non-local HMOs may reimburse at a higher rate than PPOs
• Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA/FLEX) may be used
• Please check with your insurance provider for their reimbursement rules
• Please let us know during intake if a bill is required for your insurance plan
